What is SnackBase?

SnackBase is an open-source Backend-as-a-Service platform designed for multi-tenant SaaS applications that require enterprise-grade compliance and security controls. Built with Python and FastAPI, it provides a self-hosted alternative to commercial solutions like Supabase, eliminating the need to build foundational infrastructure from scratch. The platform addresses a specific pain point for teams in regulated industries such as healthcare and life sciences: the months typically spent implementing compliant infrastructure before writing product code. SnackBase includes built-in features for audit logging, row-level security, PII masking, and authentication—components that would otherwise require extensive custom development.
