Itsyhome
Hey HN! Nick here – developer of Itsyhome, a menu bar app for macOS that gives you control over your whole HomeKit fleet (and very soon Home Assistant). I run 130+ HomeKit devices at home and the Home app was too heavy for quick adjustments. Full HomeKit support, favourites, hidden items, device gro
What is Itsyhome?
Itsyhome is a free, open-source macOS menu bar application that provides quick access to HomeKit and Home Assistant smart home devices. Developed by Nick Ustinov, the app allows users to control lights, thermostats, locks, cameras, fans, blinds, and other connected devices directly from the macOS menu bar with a single click, eliminating the need to open Apple's native Home app for routine adjustments. The tool addresses a specific pain point for users with large smart home ecosystems. With support for over 130 HomeKit devices, Ustinov created Itsyhome to streamline control when the standard Home app felt cumbersome for frequent interactions. The application includes features like device favorites, the ability to hide items, and device grouping for organized access. Built with Swift 5.9 for macOS 14 and later, Itsyhome is available under the MIT license through both its website and GitHub repository. While currently focused on HomeKit integration, the developer has indicated plans to expand support to Home Assistant, broadening its appeal to users across different smart home platforms. The app targets macOS users seeking a lightweight alternative for managing smart home devices without navigating deeper menu structures. As an open-source project, it allows technical users to review the code and potentially contribute to its development.
